About Fr. Daniel Cardo


Fr. Daniel Cardó, a priest from the Archdiocese of Denver, holds the Benedict XVI Chair of Liturgical Studies at Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary (Denver). His teaching and research focus on early Eucharistic liturgy and the thought of Joseph Ratzinger. He has also done work on Homiletics and recent liturgical reform.


Fr. Daniel has been the pastor at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Westminster, Colorado, since 2025; previously, he served as pastor at Holy Name Catholic Parish for 15 years.

Among his published works are The Cross and the Eucharist in Early Christianity: A Theological and Liturgical Investigation (Cambridge University Press, 2019); What Does it Mean to Believe? Faith in the Thought of Joseph Ratzinger (Emmaus Academic, 2020); The Art of Preaching: A Theological and Practical Primer (Catholic University of America Press, 2021); The Cambridge Companion to Joseph Ratzinger, co-editor (Cambridge University Press, 2024).
